Psychics predict the future in Iceland - fortunetellers at work

In Iceland ,it is customary at years end, for fortunetellers or psychics to predict what will happen in the new year.
Those predictions are shown in the newspapers and magazines in Iceland.
Last year , one of the predictions was that a big volcano would erupt and make trouble all over.
That would probably be , the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano.

Here are the highlights of the predictions for the year 2011.

Protests will increaase and the economy will get worse.
It will lead to a revolution.

Money will be discovered and help the public .
More corruption information will surface.

No volcano next year .

But nobody takes these prediction seriously ,it is just for fun to read them .

Weather changes in Iceland in december 2010 - video

Here is a video clip i took on the 24th and 27th of December 2010 -
You can see how fast the weather chnages here in Iceland.
The days are very short, due to the location of Iceland.
So while the east coast of the USA is having weather problems, we in Iceland are havingweather problems too.
We cant go skiing.
Every car in ICeland must have snow tyres during winter, and many have also iron spikes on there tyres,so the get a better grip on the snow and ice.
That is the sound that you hear, where the tyres are on the asphalt

Icesave deal between Iceland - and the UK and Holland ,video

Iceland has gotten an deal between UK and Holland ,about the IceSave debt.
The first deal went before a national referendum here in Iceland march 6. and there the people of Iceland did not agree with that deal .
And now the  second deal is on the table, with only about 3 % interests rates, will the Iceland President refuse to sign it inot law, and by doing so , like he did in january, it we go before a another national referendum.
Iceland parliement must first agree on the deal ,and then the President must sign it to law.
If he refuses ,then it goes before the Ielandic people,to a national vote.
On the 31st of decemeber last year, people protested the IceSave deal.
You can see my video , when people lighted flares in front of Parleiemtn ,and then later in front of the President house.

New spokeperson for Wikileaks . and freedom of the press ?

Now that Julian Assange ,spokesman for Wikileaks,is now in jail in Londnd,Wikileaks has a new man talking for them.
According to the foreign  media , the new spokeperson would be Mr. Kristinn Hrafnsson.
He has been working for Wikileaks since last April.
Kristinn is an Icelander.
At the same time , that Wikileaks is under attack and Julian Assange is put in jail ,they say that the  US goverment has sent this out .

"The United States is pleased to announce that it will host Unesco's World Press Freedom Day event in 2011, from 1-3 May in Washington, DC.

The theme for next year's commemoration will be 21st Century Media: New Frontiers, New Barriers. The United States places technology and innovation at the forefront of its diplomatic and development efforts. New media has empowered citizens around the world to report on their circumstances, express opinions on world events, and exchange information in environments sometimes hostile to such exercises of individuals' right to freedom of expression. At the same time, we are concerned about the determination of some governments to censor and silence individuals, and to restrict the free flow of information. We mark events such as World Press Freedom Day in the context of our enduring commitment to support and expand press freedom and the free flow of information in this digital age."

Here you can see Kristinn Hrafnsson on an interview by CNN.

Wikileaks papers on Iceland - info from the US embassy on Iceland

The best and cheapest way to get Icelanders to go to cultural events at the US embassy in Iceland ,is to offer duty free wine.
One media in Iceland talks about a report by mr. Philip S. Kosnett , who wrote it from the US Embassy.
He says , that most of the Icelanders that are asked to these functions at the     Embassy,go home with positive feelings toward the USA.

Also according to the Wikileaks papers, Icelands Prime Minsiter, Johanna Sigurdardottir, threatened to resign,if the Left Green party would not agree on the IceSave issue in July 2009.

In Neils Klopfenstein report  from the US embassy in Reykjavik, he says the Icelands Finance Minister mr. Steingrimur J. Sigfusson, surprised them by being a serius and responsable finance minister.

Now Wikileaks data has come out about Iceland.
According to USA embassy officials in Reykjavik,mr David Oddsson then CEO of the Iceland Central Bank, had made bad statements in the media just after the banking crash 2008.
And that Bjarni Benediktsson ,then member of parliement and now chairman of the Independence party, looked at David as a threat to his position ( bjarni ) in the Independence party.
Also that David was an obstacle for Iceland applying for EU membership.

The Icelandic Goverment just had a press conference, about how to help people in Iceland who have bad debts, and are having problems paying of their loans.
About 72 thousand familys have real estate debts, and around 60 thousand of them will benefit from the Goverment financial help plans.
The goverment help plan, is also with pension funds, and financial institutions.
This plan will cost about 100 billion kronas. ( 1 usdollar = 115 IceKronas )
In the plan are new soltion, like reducing interests rates and that could redse payments per family at around 200 - 300 thousand kronas per year.
