Women celebrate 100th year since the right to vote in Iceland june 19th 2015

Icelanders are celebrating a landmark today as 19 June 2015 marks the 100th annivercary of Womens right to vote in Iceland .
And today there was a celebration in front of the Parliament building in Reykjavik.
And former President and the first woman to be elected democratically President in 1980 , Vigdis Finnbogadottir , held a speach on the balcony on Parliament building.
Womens choir sang sogns , and in the end , a statue was unveiled of the first woman to be elected to parliament in 1922 .
Many thousand gathered today in downtown Reykjavik , to take part in the celebration .
