Dc-3 starting and taking off from Reykjavik today - video and photos

Not often that you see two  airworthy DC-3´s together at the same airport.
The one in the  Icelandair markings is always in Iceland ,but the other one, in military  colors,is here on its way from England to the USA.
And yesterday ,just after 12:00 o´clock,the C-47 started and took off from Reykjavik airport.
It was great to see two C-47´s ( DC-3 ) at the same time.
The take off was beautiful ,and then the C-47 took a low pass over the airport and waved us goodbuy with its wings,and turned west to the USA.

Reykjavik in Iceland today ,and the next weekend , photos and video

Today was a good day in Iceland.
The weather not at its best,but not at its worst either.
I went for a walk and took a few photos ,and i hope you like them.
Next weekend is the biggest weekend in summer time.
Monday is a public holiday,so there will be lots of festivities in every part of Iceland.
And in the west fjords ,at Isafjörður,there will be the annual mud soccer tournement.
Here is a video clip i took a few years ago of the Mud Soccer tournement.
It is great fun .

Memorial Service For Norway in Iceland ,photos and video

Today many Icelanders came downtown in Reykjavik,to show Norway its support and sympathy .
After the attack yesterday in Oslo and Utoya that has left many dead, people have gathered to show its support and sympathy.
The Norwegian Ambassador in Iceland ,mr. Dag Wernø Holter held a short speach,and then music was played ,by the Norwegian composer ,Edward Grieg.
Then there was a minute silence.
People then lighted candles for the people of Norway.

Still a heatwave in Reykjavik,Iceland - photos and video

Still the heatwave is on in Reykjavik,Iceland.
And yesterday ( sunday) people flocked to the beach and to downotwn Reykjavik,to have a great time and fun in the sun.
The temperature reaced a staggering 16 degrees yesterday,and you can see on the photos and video , that people enjoyed the heatwave very much.

Heatwave in Reykjavik,Iceland - photos

Now there is a staggering heatwave in Reykjavik and many parts of Iceland .
The heat is at and around 20 degrees on the celcius.
Everybody is outside and having fun.
The beach is full of people and downtown also .

The weather is great ,and fun to travel in Iceland .

US Coast Guard sailboat The Eagle in Reykjavik ,iceland -video

This week , the Eagle ,US Coast Guard Sailboat,visited Reykajvik Iceland .
They stayed for three days,and invited Icelanders to visit and board the big vessel to see it up close.
I took this video yesterday evening at 21:00 hours.
The weather was calm and warm

The USCGC Eagle (WIX-327) (ex-SSS Horst Wessel) is a 295-foot (90 m) barque used as a training cutter for future officers of the United States Coast Guard. She is one of only two active commissioned sailing vessels in American military service, the other being the USS Constitution.

She is the seventh U.S. Navy or Coast Guard ship to bear the name in a line dating back to 1792
