Constitutional election in Iceland - new constitution for Iceland

Last saturday there was a Constitutionl election here in ICeland.
People voted on 25 individuals, who should be in a Constitutional assembly, and come with a new Constitution for Iceland.
530 where on the ballot, and everybody could be on the ballot.
But only 530 wanted to be on it.
About 35 % of the voters in Iceland voted last saturday.
Wich is a big dissapointment.
This is a unpresedented vote, that the pblic is given the oppurtunity to make a new Constitution, but Parliement will get what the Constittional assembly, and there it will be discussed, and if parliement likes it, then it will be put forward as Icelands Constitution.

The video is from janury 24th 2009 - when a choir sang a beutiful song about Iceland

It has got minor changes  through the years.
But now, the goverment decided to go all the way,and have a constitutional parliement ,and give them two months to come up with a constitution, for the people of Iceland ,and by the people of Iceland.

Norway has forgiven Iceland - and want them to return home

1136 years ago , a few left Norway and went to Iceland.
They where the first ones to come to Iceland ,and live there.
They left Norway because they had some trouble in Norway with the local goverment and the King of Norway.
Ingolfur Arnarsson, was the first Icelander, and according to history , they left Norway becuase the didint like to pay taxes and follow the local law.
Not much has changed in that in Iceland since the year 874.
But now the Norwegians have forgive Icelanders.
Two Norwegians have sent a letter to Iceland ,mr. Roy Sævik and mr. Haavar Yndestad, and in the letter they say " it is 1136 years since you left us, and now it is time you come home "
" and here are you relatives and here you can get work and living space"

The Norwegians live in Stongfjorden and need more people to live there ,and they are afraid that the local childrens school will close if no more children will arrive.

The Nordic Council in Iceland ,and protest next thursday video

The Nordic Council is now being held in Reykjavik.
The Council has 87 elected members from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Iceland parliement will be in session next Thursday.
And many are planning a protest from 14:00 hours until 22:00 hours on Thursday in front of the parliement building.
More that a thousand familys have to get food from Family Help and the Church.
Once a week,on wednesdays, many line up, and have to get food for themselves and their familys.
The goverment ,and parliement are not doing much to help familys, in the financial troubles.
But they Goverment still helps those that took part in the Banking Crisis, and writes of big debts, but the public get nothing.
Here below is a video from the protest last protest in october
